Sydney is one of the best cities in the World - it's that simple. The Sydney Opera House, the Harbour Bridge and the harbour itself are not only World icons, and very beautiful they are too.
Sydney has many exceptional restaurants (esp. seafood) and the best cafes in the World (ok, I'm biased, I lived in Sydney for 8 years). For night life try the city centre all the way down to Circular Quay (we recommend the Basement jazz/blues club), and try Paddington for bars, gastro pubs and cafes, or Potts Point (eg Soho Bar) for some late night action.
